Get XLM for fees
What you’ll do: Put a small amount of XLM in your wallet so you can pay network fees and meet Stellar’s account reserve.
Every Stellar transaction — adding a trustline, connecting a wallet, deploying or funding an escrow — costs a tiny XLM fee, and an account must hold a minimum XLM reserve to exist. A few dollars of XLM covers a long run of activity.
Fund the account
Copy your Stellar address
In the wallet, find your address (starts with G…) and copy it.
Buy XLM
On an exchange that lists XLM (e.g. Kraken, Coinbase, Uphold), buy a small amount — $5–$10 is plenty to start.
Withdraw XLM to your address
Send the XLM to the Stellar address you copied. Double-check the address before confirming.
Wait for arrival
Stellar settles in seconds to a few minutes. Refresh your wallet to see the balance.
Send to the correct Stellar address. On-chain sends are irreversible — a wrong address means the funds are gone. If your exchange asks for a memo, a personal Stellar wallet address usually doesn’t need one, but confirm in your wallet’s receive screen.
Running low later
If fees ever fail for lack of XLM, repeat this: buy a little more and send it to the same address.
Done when
Your wallet shows an XLM balance. With USDC (trustline) and XLM (fees) in place, your wallet is ready.
