2. Get assigned

2. Get assigned

What you’ll do: Get the maintainer to assign you, so the bounty is reserved for your work.

Only the assigned contributor can connect a wallet and get paid for a bounty. Assignment is how TOSS knows the reward is yours.

How assignment happens

Assignment is a normal GitHub action — the maintainer sets you as the issue’s Assignee. There’s no bot command to self-assign; comment on the issue to express interest and let the maintainer assign you.

Comment to express interest

Say you’d like to take it, and anything relevant about your approach. Maintainers assign people they’re confident in.

Wait for the assignment

When the maintainer assigns you, the bot comments with a link to connect your payout wallet.

No wallet connected yet? That’s fine. The bounty parks and waits for you — it won’t error or expire while it waits. Connect whenever you’re ready and it resumes.

Done when

You’re listed as the issue’s assignee and the bot has posted your wallet-connect link.
